You’ve all seen it, and we know it. You walk into a convenience store, want to pull out some quick cash for your purchase (so you don’t have to spend a $10 minimum), and the ATM looks outdated and dirty. “Eeewwwwww” is the first thing that comes to mind! The next thing that comes to mind is everything on the news about credit card number stealing from unkempt ATMs. It’s a problem, but not one you have to deal with!
If you run a business or an event, you probably understand the importance of having cash on hand, and if you have been reading our blog, you probably now understand the importance of providing a meaningful experience to your customer’s overall experience! What does your ATM say about your business? Does it say “hey, I’m cutting corners and don’t care about keeping my customers safe,” or does it say “I want to encourage your business by providing you a safe and reliable cash alternative?” Consumers aren’t stupid, and if you think they are, you probably shouldn’t be in business, to begin with!
I would never use an ATM machine that looked old, scratched up or outdated. Ever. Would you?
Here’s the truth of the matter. Not keeping up to date on how you present all aspects of your business, including your ATM machines, hurts your business in the long run. You destroy confidence in your brand and your name when you provide questionable products or services. Second, keeping up to date with state of the art ATMs is not the extra expense you believe it to be. Don’t become “that guy” who apparently only wants to make money. Your consumers can tell, and they won’t come back. Nor is that a sustainable business model because it leaves customer happiness, one of the most important factors, out of the equation. Check your ATMs. Ask your clients for feedback.
